How to Share a Social Account
Sharing a Social Account allows you to grant teammates on your Mention Subscription access to use that account across Mention features.
Steps
Go to Settings.
Under the Access tab of your Social Account, click the + button.
In the share window, select one or multiple teammates, or choose all teammates.
Click Done to confirm.
How to Restrict access to a Social Account
You can revoke a teammate’s access to a Social Account at any time. Removing access blocks use of all features tied to that account.
Steps
Access your list of Social Accounts in Settings.
Click the + symbol next to the Social Account you want to modify.
Untick any teammates you want to restrict.
Click Done.
How to Delete a Social Account
Deleting a Social Account removes it from your Mention platform entirely. This action removes access for all teammates and deletes associated content from Publish, Respond, and Reports.
Steps
In Settings, click the ⚙️ symbol for the Social Account.
Select I want to delete for everyone to remove the account for your entire team.
If you instead select I want to leave this account, the Social Account remains available to your teammates.
Notes & Limitations
❗ Removing the Account also removes the content from Publish, Respond, and your Reports.
How to Refresh an Expired Social Account Token
Mention uses access tokens provided by each social network to allow secure interaction with your Social Accounts.
Scope & Source Behavior
When connecting a Social Account, Mention requests authorization to access personal information. Depending on the network, this can include name, email, profile details (e.g., picture, posts), and permissions needed for Mention features.
Mention requests permission for:
Facebook
Instagram
Twitter/X
LinkedIn
You can revoke access at any time by:
Removing your Social Account in Mention’s Social Account Settings, or
Removing Mention from your permissions list directly in each social media site.
Why Tokens Need Refreshing
Tokens must sometimes be refreshed due to:
A feature change that requires a new permission (e.g., an update in Publish or Respond)
Natural token expiration — tokens are not permanent.
The rate of token refresh varies by social network.
How to Identify an Expired Token
Expired tokens appear in Social Account Settings.
In features like Publish or Respond, the affected Social Account will be greyed out and require refresh.
A refresh icon will appear next to the Social Account.
