Online reviews are the biggest source of social proof today and an essential part of the decision-making process of customers. Within your alerts, you will be able to monitor a specific product or business from a list of review websites offered by Mention. Through monitored reviews, you will gain a clearer understanding of the online footprint left by your business or your competitors.

Below, we will go over the process for adding and editing a review website to your alert!

Review Websites Available in Mention

Add a Review Site to an Alert

You have the option of adding a monitored review site to your alert during alert creation or in edit mode after your alert is created. Nonetheless, once a review website is added to your alert, mention will fetch all new reviews from the website.

⚙️ Please note that Mention does not fetch historical data for review websites. Adding a review site to an existing alert will not retroactively bring in older reviews.

Please follow the steps below to help you add a review page to your alert:

  1. Find the Monitored Pages tab and click on the Review Websites section.

  2. Click on Add a Review Website

  3. Copy and paste the URL of the review page.

  4. You're all set from there!

Fetching the Correct Review Website URLs

In your Mention alerts, you will need to add the specific review page URL of the website you are attempting to monitor. This will guarantee that Mention fetches the correct content from the different review websites.

With regards to these sites, please follow these steps:

  • Go to the website and search for the brand, service, or product.

  • Find the specific profile of what you searched.

  • From there, copy the URL of the profile and paste it into Mention!

Typically the URL you copy will include lengthy text that follows the domain URL. Example:

Amazon Review Pages: Make sure your review link is formatted as follows:

For example, the following is correct: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QELAM98/?th=1 ✅

The following are incorrect:

⚙️ Troubleshooting Invalid URLs: if you receive an invalid URL error, please review the profile URL you copied into Mention. Some websites will require you to click on an extra tab titled Reviews / Ratings.

Sometimes, the reviews / ratings section will appear by text or other times you may see stars/symbols! Regardless, please try to click on these sections and copy the URL you are given once the reviews appear!

Google Local Reviews

If your business or a competitor has a Google Local Review page, you can add their review to your alert via the Review Pages section! Please follow the steps below to fetch the correct URL and add it to your Mention Alert.

How do I add the Google URL?

1. Open the Alert Settings page and head over to the Monitored Pages section and click on the Review Websites tab.

2. Click on the option 'Add a Google Review Page' and a pop-up will appear.

3. In this section, you can fill out the location of your business or a competitor

4. Save your alert!

Once your alert is modified, Mention will fetch new reviews as they appear online! Now you can easily track your business or a competitor's reviews.
