When you create a new Basic Alert, it is important to identify the specific keywords that will fetch the data you want from the web and social media. Depending on your search topic, you might find yourself debating on which words or phrases to choose from. To ensure that you build a high-quality search query, you will have access to the Alert Creation Assistant.

The Alert Creation Assistant is a suggestion tool that is built into your Basic Alert. As you build or modify your search query, the assistant will generate suggestions for your alert such as new keywords or country and language filters:

⚙️ At first, the assistant will appear blank. Once you add words or phrases to your search boxes, Mention will review the keywords and provide suggestions based on data from pre-fetched content.

Introduction to the Alert Creation Assistant

Utilize the Assistant for Keyword Suggestions

The Alert Creation Assistant is going to primarily support your keyword monitoring needs. As you modify the query, the assistant will update in real-time with new suggested keywords or hashtags based on the following categories:

  • Top Trending Topics: view the list of top words that primarily appear with the current keywords in your alert.

  • Top Hashtags: view the list of hashtags that primarily appear with the current keywords in your alert.

  • Top Positive Mentions: view the list of positive words that primarily appear with the current keywords in your alert.

  • Top Negative Mentions: view the list of negative words that primarily appear with the current keywords in your alert.

Depending on your monitoring needs, you can click on one of the boxes to review the list of suggested keywords. If you find a keyword that you want to add to your alert, simply click on the word and choose the search box that it will go to:

As you begin to add new keywords to your search, your Alert Assistant will automatically suggest more keywords for your query. Feel free to mix and match multiple keywords until you create an alert that fits your needs.

⚙️ Sometimes you might not see all of these suggestion boxes appear in your Alert. This is due to the fact that keywords in your search boxes might not yield enough data to populate certain suggestions such as hashtags or negative keywords.

💡 Mention Tips - Monitoring UseCases

  • If you are conducting brand monitoring, we recommend using the Top Trending and Top Positive mentions boxes to enhance your search query.

  • If you are conducting social media monitoring especially on Instagram, we recommend using the Hashtag box to suggest some keywords for your query.

  • If your are conducting reputation management, we recommend using the Top Negative box to review common words associated with a negative perception of your brand.

📖 The Alert Creation Assistant will provide you with suggestions for new keywords to monitor in your Alert. If you would like to learn more about how to structure the keywords in your alert, please check out this article: Basic Alert Principles - Keywords

Utilize the Assistant for Country & Language Suggestions

Once your keyword search is set, you can use the Alert Creation Assistant in the Countries and Languages tab. In this section, the Assistant will provide you with the following categories:

  • Top Countries: review the countries that primarily use the keywords from your search.

  • Top Languages: review the languages that primarily use the keywords from your search.

Once you click on one of these boxes, you will be able to add the country or language to your alert monitoring. We recommend using these suggestions if you are conducting international monitoring.
