Mention's Social Analytics Reports offer an in-depth view of online performance for your accounts or your competitors. The data from these Reports come directly from the social media platforms you are reviewing.

In this article, you will learn how to create Social Analytic Reports and Social Comparative Reports. Here is the agenda:

❗Comparative Analytic Reports are only available on the Company Plan

⚙️ At this time, you can create Social Analytic Reports for the following accounts:

  • Twitter Accounts

  • Facebook Business Pages

  • Instagram Business Accounts

  • LinkedIn Company Pages

Access the Report Creation Page

On your Mention navigation bar, you will need to head over to the Analytics section and choose the Reports option. This will open the Insights Center and Reports tab.

From there, please click on the Create a Report button to view the list of reports available on your account:

⚙️ If you hover your cursor over a report, you will see a description of the report template along with a preview of the metrics that you will appear when you create these reports. This preview will give you a clearer idea of what to expect for each report template that is available on your subscription.

💡 Mention Tip - Create a Report from the Feed

You can open the Report Creation page directly from the Feed by hovering over any alert and clicking on the 3 dots next to the name of the alert. From there, you can choose the Create a Report button to open the creation page:

In the next few sections, you will learn about the benefits of each report and how to create them:

Create a Social Analytic Report

Social Analytic Reports will display a view-only dashboard of analytics for your own brands. Through these reports, you can analyze your social media performance and audience perception. On top of this, you can review these dashboards after a major media campaigns and identify future strategies.

📖 In order to create a Social Analytic Report, you need to connect your social media accounts to Mention before accessing the report creation page. To learn more, check out this article:

If you would to create a Social Analytic Report, please follow these steps on the Report Creation Page:

  • Choose the platform that you want to review: Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram

  • Write a name for your report at the top

  • If you have multiple social accounts connected, you can choose the account you want to analyze from the drop-down menu that appears below the Report Name.

  • Please choose a time period for your report. By default, the report will be set to the previous 30 days.

  • Once you are ready, you can click on Create Report.

Once created, you will see metrics about each account such as the evolution of your followers, top performing posts, and engagement:

Clarification on Time Period Filter in Report

Mention Analytic Reports do not fetch historical data. Mention will attempt to fetch analytics for your reports after the report is created.

If your time period filter is set to 30 days, Mention is not searching for 30 days of social account analytics. You will need to wait for your data to populate.

⚙️ When creating a Social Analytic Report, please be aware of some unique differences for each platform:

  • Twitter: Mention will be able to fetch data after you connect the social account.

  • Instagram: due to restrictions from these platforms, there are some limitations with your metrics:

    • Mention will restrict certain KPIs to only show data from the 'last 30 days'.

    • Your connected account needs to have a minimum of 100 followers to view some demographics metrics such as the location, gender, and language of your followers.

    • Instagram Reports only display organic likes in the report. Mention will not display likes from promoted/boosted posts.

  • Facebook: Due to an API change from Meta, we are not able to display demographics data at follower level. Demographics information (age & gender) is now computed at the Impressions level. This means that instead of accessing demographic data based on your followers, the data will now reflect the demographics of the users who view your content.

Social Account Data Fetching:

There are some social media pages that are not in the Mention database. Due to this, some data may be missing when you first create a Social Analytics Report! Please allow for a few hours before checking in on the report. Mention's data refreshing is asynchronous data will appear within some time.

Facebook Analytics Reports - Likes & Dislikes:

You may notice 'dislikes' in your Facebook Report even though Facebook does not have a dislike button. The dislikes in your Report corresponds to people unliking the page!
